One of the greatest most challenging journeys you will ever go on is seeing what your body can do. Perhaps you are in shape, wholly out of shape, or just expecting to lose some weight. Nonetheless, developing a body you can be proud, one that's healthy, and lets you truly love every possible last piece of it really is an amazing journey to try.

So what is the real key to making a lasting change with your body?

Consistency and commitment.

There's nothing else like coming to the table every day and giving it your best shot. Your best effort must be yours and yours alone. Don't start comparing your journey to other journeys or else you will become lackadaisical and daunted by the task at hand. Instead, understand that you are contesting with yourself and yourself alone. Will there be times on your journey where you try and fail? Yes, many times. But every single time you do, you need to come back with a dedication to achieving something you've always strongly desire. Consistency will keep you in the game and on the field each day. Without it, you'll suffer the the inevitable reality of many new years resolutioners who give up each and every single year on developing the body of their dreams because they lack the ability to keep on coming back again and againand again.

Commitment also is evoked, although not the commitment you're probably thinking of in this case. In our world, we are fed this idea that everything must occur right now and if it does not happen right now, it is not worthwhile. Your body is going to drastically change acrossthe years, so why don't you make a lifelong commitment to remaining healthy? Is that a sexy packageable idea? Not so much. But is it something that might truly change the course of your life? Totally.

When you make a promise to keeping your body healthy through your entire life, you will ultimately reach whatever goal you wish. It's about seeing the overall picture than just the few months in front of you till summer. It's honestly about developing something you can be happy with forever. For me, that idea changed the course of my life as I was able to finally hit my health targets after 12 years of wrestling with my self-image and food issues. But as soon as I shifted my perspective of what I was trying to achieve, everything I had wished for came to me. So try it on for size and see if it works for you. Make a lifelong dedication to staying healthy and watch how much your body will change in the short term too.

Bring some commitment and consistency to the table, in all facets of your life, and things will change radically.
