By Nelda Powers

Among all of the team sports in the entire world. The sport known as football is actually known to be one of the roughest and the toughest in the field. It is for this reason that each of the players have to really strong and would have to know how to fend for themselves when on the field. Of course it is the duty of the coach to be able to train the players to become strong by making them undergo some youth football training drills.

The first drill up on the list would actually already be the simplest and is known as the jump squat. When it comes to football, do take note that leg strength is very important because the legs will be used heavily during the games. It is essential that one would have the capability to run really fast and jump high.

To start the jump squat exercise, one has to first get down on a squatting position and start squatting down. From that position, he then has to jump as high as he can and bend his legs in the air. Just repeat this exercise a couple of times and the legs will be having a real workout.

Another drill that will be done by novice players would be the recovery drill. Now this drill would cover a lot of skills that one will be needing in order for him to beat the opponent. Basically, it will help one be able to get a better sense of balance in general and will also help one be able to pass and catch the ball from player to player while running on the field.

To do this, the coach has to set up a cone in front of the player to the right side, set up another cone five yards away on the left side, then set up a third one another five yards forward to the right side. The players would have to run around each cone and touch the ground after. While doing that, he have to switch the hand wherein they are holding the ball.

Of course if one would want to increase his running speed, then he has to do the over speed exercise. Now this would only work if the coach is able to find a steep hill to train on. Basically, the players have to run down the hill and try not to fall down.

The last drill that would be stated here would be the dummy tackling drill. Now this is probably one of the most common ones and would increase the overall body strength of the players. Basically, the coach would have to set up a set of dummies on the field and the players would have to push the dummies to a certain distance in the field.

So as one can see, the youth football training drills are not easy and would require a lot of time and effort before one would perfect them. However, after doing these drills, one will definitely expect his body to get stronger. That way, he will be ready to face his opponents when he goes out with his other teammates to the field.
