The Truth about the Ice Cream Diet

By James Steele

The reaction many people have about the Ice Cream Diet is typical, and they tend to look at it and wonder if it's for real. This is understandable, as ice cream sounds like something you have to stay away from if you want to lose weight. But that's the deal with the Ice Cream Diet; you'll get to your target weight while eating ice cream each and every day. In this review, we will look at this claim and decide if there's any truth to it.

Put simply, the Ice Cream Diet tells you point blank that you can get rid of the excess weight while retaining the pleasure of indulging in terrific tasting foods. This diet is no different from others, similar in nature, that require you to keep a close eye on the calories you eat each day.

Most people assume that the only reason the ice cream diet includes ice cream is to kill the otherwise intolerable taste of the diet. Yet, the fact is that ice cream itself may help you to lose weight because of its calcium content. When calcium is lacking the signal to the fat cells is, we need more fat. Calcium helps the body to burn fat more efficiently. The Ice Cream Diet book points out that certain benefits come from eating calcium rich foods. Having a consistent exercise plan will help you lose even more weight.

This diet is based on sound principles that are no real secret, and the ice cream bit isn't needed at all. The calorie targets are: Men, no more than 2,000 cals/day; and Women, no more than 1,500 cals/day. In addition to the calorie restrictions, the diet has you engaged in exercise that will help to burn fat, etc. Theoretically, if you wanted to you could eat your daily limit in ice cream, but who wants to do that? The fact is, with this number of calories combined with exercise, you should be able to lose weight, whether you included ice cream, candy or chocolate chip cookies in your diet. Marketing has more to do with Ice Cream Diet name than the actual necessity of eating ice cream.

One problem with the Ice Cream Diet is that the title is somewhat misleading. While you can eat a little bit of ice cream during the day, you'll still be taking in a low amount of calories. Peop
