Using Kettlebell Exercises For Your Everyday Living

By Greg Diener

When I was young, I had the muscular development of a seventy year old woman. When it came to teasing, I was the low hanging fruit of the schoolyard. If I were living in an 80's teen flick, I would have probably learned karate. However, the nearest thing to Japan in my hometown was a sushi restaurant run by Koreans. However we did have a dilapidated gym that was positively Soviet in design. And, in there, I discovered there were kettlebells. As the title so boldly states, kettlebell exercises changed my life.

So, you might be wondering, what are kettlebells? They're a bit like dumbbells, by the mechanics behind it are radically different. They look like steel circles with handles on the end. That is the secret to their success. Kettlebell exercises are, actually the single easiest way to get fit and healthy.

Kettlebell training is different from conventional weightlifting in a number of important ways. Whereas weightlifting is mainly for muscle building, kettlebell exercises build muscles while also serving as aerobic exercises as well. This way, instead of just doing one thing during your exercise time, kettlebell training lets you do twice as much at the same time. And, with our perpetually filled schedules, that is never a bad thing.

Kettlebell exercises are prepared by taking the kettlebells and lilting them around. If that appears facile, well, let me tell you from training that it really isn't. Kettlebells generally range from as tiny as four pounds all the way up to more than two hundred. Don't Fret, you're going to start on the smaller side.

However, that actually is all that you have to do. Kettlebell exercises don't need you to buy huge gym memberships or cumbersome machines; if you know what you're doing, you can definitely do it at home. However, if you're just starting out with kettlebells, it might be smart for you to work with a professional coach or gym.
